Become a Career Pivot Ally and help those at UN and IOs who are affected by lay-offs.

In times of uncertainty and change, especially during lay-offs at United Nations agencies, International Organizations, and Non-Profits, the support of a career ally can make a significant difference. A Career Pivot Ally is someone who dedicates 20 minutes of their time to provide light-weight career counseling, share insights into their career, industry, and location, and offer a listening ear to those affected by job losses.
Role of a Career Pivot Ally
A Career Pivot Ally is someone who supports and assists you during a significant career change or transition. This person can provide guidance, encouragement, and practical advice as you navigate the challenges of shifting to a new role or industry. They might help you identify transferable skills, offer networking opportunities, or simply be a source of moral support.
A Career Pivot Ally can be anyone willing to share their time and expertise. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out, your experiences and insights can be invaluable to someone navigating career transitions. As an ally, you can:

What if I would get too many requests?
When you receive too many requests or requests from outside the UN system, it’s important to manage your availability effectively. Allies can set clear boundaries by specifying their focus on supporting individuals within the UN system and politely declining external requests. To limit requests on LinkedIn, you can adjust their privacy settings to restrict messages to only those who know your LinkedIn address. This can be done by navigating to LinkedIn’s settings, selecting “Privacy,” and then “Who can send you invitations.” Here, you can choose the option “Only people who know your email address” to ensure that only those with their LinkedIn address can reach out. This helps maintain a manageable number of requests and ensures support is directed to those who need it most.
